Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification.

As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a PADI Discover SCUBA Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.
Minimum Age: 10
Divers between the ages of 10 and 14 will be certified as a Junior Open Water Diver
Must be in good physical health
Be able to float unaided for 10 minutes
Be able to swim 200 Metres
Continue the adventure with PADI's Adventure Diver program, your next step in exploring the underwater world. Or go deeper and further with PADI's Advanced Open Water Diver program, Advanced Open Water Diver certifies you to 100' and you learn many new skills while meeting great people.
Throughout the course, you'll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.
The course is split into three distint parts, Classroom, Confined Water Dives, and Certification Dives.
Sections I and II Classroom/Academics - Pool WEDNESDAY: 6:30 - 9:45pm - Orientation at Store, review E-learning, complete on-site quiz.
SATURDAY: 11:45am - 6pm - Meet at Pool
After Pool on Saturday: Meet back at Store for completion of Classroom 1-1.5 hours
ALL E-learning knowledge reviews and tests must be completed to the best of your ability prior to the first night of class. If not all done, you will be asked to move to the next scheduled class.
ALL file folders and releases must be signed and turned in prior to class (with physician's signature on the PADI medical form if necessary).
Every person attending the pool must have a signed YMCA Release Form. This includes non-students.
SCUBA Quality snorkel kit (Mask, Fins, Snorkel, and Boots) are required prior to the first class & pool session. If you do not have these, they can be purchased at the store.
Students are responsible for transportation to and from all dive sites and any lodging.
